Alternative Rock Music

Rock Band

Broken Links are a 3-piece rock band from outer Southampton who write, record and perform original rock music. Their alternative music is achieved by use of vocal and guitar effects, big bass lines and solid drum beats. Some would pigeon-hole the band as indie or indie rock but the band prefer to be associated with the genre alternative rock. Their live gigs include a selection of rock songs from a range of influences spanning three decades including many rock artists. Some songs could be classed as hard rock music because of the heavy guitar riffs and dark melodies often used by other alternative bands.

Rock Music

The music that Broken Links write is rock music with an alternative twist. The band’s shows are great live entertainment as you would expect from any well-rehearsed rock band. The rock music they produce has clear eighties influences but are rock songs at their core. They have supported several signed rock artists including InMe, British Sea Power and My Vitriol who all make similar alternative music.

Indie Bands

Broken Links are one of the top indie bands from the south of England. They have played numerous gigs at live music venues across the country such as The Joiners in Southampton and Hector’s House in Brighton alongside other great indie rock bands like The Cinematics, The Boxer Rebellion and Kid Adrift. Most indie rock music is achieved by playing usually happy songs using clean guitar tones but Broken Links have explored the darker side of indie. Broken Links create more mysterious atmospheres by using delay effects, abstract riffs and sinful lyrics.

Alternative Rock

Vocal effects, odd time-signatures and industrial bass guitar tones are just some of the elements which make Broken Links an alternative rock band as well as providing great entertainment for anybody who attends one of their gigs. Some of their songs are more like hard rock music due to the heavily distorted guitar and bass tones similar to rock artists such as Muse and Nine Inch Nails.
